To the left of the post on the Green is a single storey 59 Church Street and to the right of the post is where I now live.

This is from a glass plate. Based on the other glass plates in the collection I'd guess this is between 1910 and 1915.

I currently live in Mrs Haddow's house. Can you tell me anything about her, or why today the house just appears to be called 'House'?

I think the old thatched house was James Read's farmhouse until 1877, then occupied by his daughter Alice and her husband James Wayman. Alice died 1923 aged 90. Can anyone confirm ?

I lived in the little house attached to the right of the shop with my parents, Betty and Steward Oliver and my sister Trudy. We left in 1963. At the time the house next door with the railings was rented to an American family. Opposite us was a coal merchant.

Is that Mr.Barton's old premises ? I well remember him going round the village on his trike, with the big brown box on the front in which he kept his wares to sell. (He even let me climb in it once to shelter from a heavy downpour when I was very young).
