The building on the left was the shop. That on the right was built later as a warehouse which could be converted to a house if trade was not good! It was this building which was burnt. Repair could not use wood which was probably unavilable in the war so the new roof was flat made of concrete beams laid side by side and ashphelted. It was extended at the back in the 1960s to make the new shop while the original shop became the machinery showroom. My father took a photo of the fire damage.

From the launch

Berrycroft Stores, owned by Harold Jeeps. It may be his sons, Milford and Roland in the front.
During the war, there was a fire at the stores and they sent the fire engine from Oakington as they thought a plane had crashed.
