I can now confirm that this is the fire experienced by my Grandparents an Father.I have a p.c. addressed to Church street in 1927 and another p.c. to Station road in 1931,so the fire must have between these dates.

Could this be the fire which destroyed my Grandparents home-I know they lost their home sometime around the end of the 1920's,beginning of the 1930's.my Grandparents were Reg and Flo Breach and my Father was Malcolm Breach. The story I was told is that a couple of young sisters lit a bonfire on a very windy day and a spark set the thatch roof of my Grandparents home alight and they lost everything.

This is the big fire that destroyed the house on Church St. where the Stop-Shop is now (corner of Long Lane). Anyone know the date? - OldWill
