Must be mid 1960's or earlier, as I cannot remember the pond without railings, and the are no houses visible at the end of Newington. (AndrewC)

The last two thatched cottages where the fish van npow stands on a Thursday where demolished in the early seventies, I think the rest disappeared far earlier.

Believe it or not - this is the High St. On the right is where the post office is now. The Black Lion and associated cottages were demolished in 1970's. As far as I can see not one of these buildings remain today. I'd guess the date as 1890s.

From the size of the horse chestnut tree, this must be a very early clour photo, as the trees where quite large even during my childhood. (AndrewC)

This is part way through the restoration around 1897. Note the East window has alredy been restored to its current appearance (except no stained glass at this time)
