How lovely to see this photo included in "Album of the Month" especially as I have the original. This is the wedding of myself to the then Jennifer Smith (now deceased) on 8 June 1963. Pictured L-R are Bill Gorner (Groom's brother), Dorothy Gorner (Groom's mother), Cathy Gorner (Grooms sister and Bridesmaid), Me, Jennifer, Caroline Gorner (Groom's sister and Bridesmaid), Tony Stafford (Best Man), Gill Burkett (Bride's cousin and Bridesmaid) Edith Smith (Bride's mother), Frank Smith (Bride's father). Just visible to Frank's left may be my grandmother. Submitted by Martin Gorner pp Jennifer Gorner (deceased).

Coronation Day
Another lovely surprise, to see this photo included in "Album of the Month", the original of which I have. It shows the then 9 year old Jennifer Smith (daughter of Frank and Edith Smith) and the then 5 year old Janet Ambrose (daughter of Fred and Beat Ambrose) on Coronation Day 3 June 1953. Jennifer (who I was to marry 10 years later) is dressed as a Lavender Girl, her dress, which I think was crepe paper dyed lavender, suffered in the heavy rain of that day, the dye running and staining clothing underneath. Submitted by Martin Gorner pp Jennifer Gorner (deceased).

Ronald Smith was my uncle and sadly his wife died shortly after they married. He eventually married Norah, who was a bridesmaid at his first wedding. Sadly he died suddenly in 1974.

Assuming that this is Long Stanton station, this must have been taken in it's dying years, judging from the manual operation of the crossing gates.

Long Stanton Station as I remember it, with a steam hauled train (NOT a bus!) approaching from Swavesey. The first time I used this station was in February 1957 when I, my parents and siblings alighted from a Kettering to Cambridge train. The last time was when my wife, daughter and I departed to live in Cyprus. When we returned in 1968, the "people who know best" had closed it.
